Who am I, and what gives me the right?
Simple. No one and nothing. 🚫
Why “3rd Drawer Down”?
The name comes from an old relationship, back when we moved into our first apartment together 👩❤️👨.
Every home has that drawer—the chaotic catch-all, wild frontier of domestic storage—usually in the kitchen or living room, packed with things that defy categorization: spare batteries 🔋, rogue thumb tacks 📌, unidentified keys 🔑, and that lone screwdriver you kept “just in case” 🔧. Stuff you might need, but never quite know where to put 🤷♂️.
Well, I had a habit of forgetting where all that stuff lived 🤔. I’d always ask, “Hey, where’s the...?” And without fail, she’d groan and say, “Third drawer down!” 😒 It became a running joke, a sort of domestic catchphrase. I won’t lie—I eventually started asking on purpose, just to get the reaction 🤭.
This site is that drawer in digital form. A home for all the stray thoughts, random musings, and unsolicited opinions no one asked for—but I shared anyway 💭💬. All lovingly hoarded and self-approved ✅.
When's the next one?
Short answer: I don't know 🤷♂️.
Long answer:
When I first kicked off this blog, I stuck to a post every other week—rain or shine 🗓️. The rhythm felt good: consistent without being a grind, with just enough time to write something new if I didn’t already have one in the can.
It wasn’t burnout that slowed things down—it was obligation. Publishing on schedule started to feel like a job. And the real surprise? Which posts actually landed. The ones I threw together on a whim—minimal effort, zero expectations—were often the most popular 👍. The ones I poured myself into? Mostly met with polite silence 🦗.
Just to be clear, this site is purely a hobby. No ads. No paywalls. No subscriptions. It’s not monetized, and it never will be 🆓. I actually lose money on the domain and hosting. Worth it.
By the end of 2021, I abandoned the calendar altogether. Like my Book Reviews, blog posts now appear whenever the stars (and my brain) align 💡—or when I suddenly remember, “Oh right, it’s been a while.”
Part of that shift was practical: I wanted more time to watch movies 🎬, read books 📚, and play video games 🎮—especially while working a full-time job. But mostly, it was about quality and curiosity. Some of the topics I’m interested in need a little more thought and research before I’m ready to put them out there 🧠.
These days I aim for one post a month. Sometimes on purpose. Sometimes by accident.
