Who am I, and what gives me the right?

Simple. No one and nothing. ๐Ÿšซ

Why โ€œ3rd Drawer Downโ€?

The name comes from an old relationship, back when we moved into our first apartment together ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ‘จ.

Every home has that drawer, the chaotic catch-all, wild frontier of domestic storage, usually in the kitchen or living room, packed with things that defy categorization: spare batteries ๐Ÿ”‹, rogue thumb tacks ๐Ÿ“Œ, unidentified keys ๐Ÿ”‘, and that lone screwdriver you kept โ€œjust in caseโ€ ๐Ÿ”ง. Stuff you might need, but never quite know where to put ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

Well, I had a habit of forgetting where all that stuff lived ๐Ÿค”. Iโ€™d always ask, โ€œHey, whereโ€™s the...?โ€ And without fail, sheโ€™d groan and say, โ€œThird drawer down!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜’ It became a running joke, a sort of domestic catchphrase. I wonโ€™t lie, I eventually started asking on purpose, just to get the reaction ๐Ÿคญ.

This site is that drawer in digital form. A home for all the stray thoughts, random musings, and unsolicited opinions no one asked for, but I shared anyway ๐Ÿ’ญ๐Ÿ’ฌ. All lovingly hoarded and self-approved โœ….

When's the next one?

Short answer: I don't know ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

Long answer:

When I first kicked off this blog, I stuck to a post every other week, rain or shine ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ. The rhythm felt good: consistent without being a grind, with just enough time to write something new if I didnโ€™t already have one in the can.

It wasnโ€™t burnout that slowed things down, it was obligation. Publishing on schedule started to feel like a job. And the real surprise? Which posts actually landed. The ones I threw together on a whim (minimal effort, zero expectations) were often the most popular ๐Ÿ‘. The ones I poured myself into? Mostly met with polite silence ๐Ÿฆ—.

Just to be clear, this site is purely a hobby. No ads. No paywalls. No subscriptions. Itโ€™s not monetized, and it never will be ๐Ÿ†“. I actually lose money on the domain and hosting. Worth it.

By the end of 2021, I abandoned the calendar altogether. Like my Book Reviews, blog posts now appear whenever the stars (and my brain) align ๐Ÿ’ก, or when I suddenly remember, โ€œOh right, itโ€™s been a while.โ€

Part of that shift was practical: I wanted more time to watch movies ๐ŸŽฌ, read books ๐Ÿ“š, and play video games ๐ŸŽฎ, especially while working a full-time job. But mostly, it was about quality and curiosity. Some of the topics Iโ€™m interested in need a little more thought and research before Iโ€™m ready to put them out there ๐Ÿง .

These days I aim for one post a month. Sometimes on purpose. Sometimes by accident.
